DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the sourcing, procurement and supplier management of all Raw and Packaging Materials. Actively lead and participate in purchasing initiatives. Manage strategic partnerships between company and vendors. Responsible for the total quality, continuous improvement, costs, service and value performance of the vendors supplying our manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  • Achieves the timely requisition of Purchase orders for items needed while managing appropriate inventory levels of all assigned categories.
  • Produce reports relative to tracking purchasing performance.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing market insight and knowledge associated with commodities, vendors/suppliers, market conditions, economic factors, security issues, and pricing domestically and internationally.
  • Track and communicate Vendor compliance with category managers.
  • Develop and manage annual costs, latest estimate, and assure cost performance goals are met.
  • Actively engage and support cross-functional efforts with Operations, Finance, Marketing and Sales. Included but not limited to new product development, product improvements, reformulations, changes in process.
  • Negotiate purchases, develop blanket or master agreements with suppliers, and engage in all aspects of contract management.
  • Maintain the organization's purchasing policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to ensure process transparency, fairness, impartiality, and confidentiality.
  • Evaluate overall supplier health (supplier risk assessment).
  • Review and assess total supply chain risk and identify opportunities to minimize and eliminate risk.
  • Maintain current technical skills and apply new knowledge to management tasks for the improvement of purchasing activities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing problem solving, negotiating and contract management.
  • Knowledge and participation in Six Sigma activities, including participation in Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and other continuous improvement activities, as well as knowledge on project management.
  • Clear and strategic thinker; proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion.
  • Responsible for projects that have hard deadlines that must be met.
  • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of management.
  • Must not only adapt, but must champion new and more efficient methods and techniques to meet the needs of the company.
PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORK EFFORT:
  • Must be willing to travel 15-20% of time.
  • Keying/typing, sitting, standing, walking.
  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of the job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.
  • Travel Requirements are minimal.
  • FLSA status: Salaried — Exempt.
