Using Remote Sensing to Determine Topography
Grades 6-12.
Hands-on activity allows students to collect data about concealed landforms, then use it to create visualization of the landforms. Each student group collects data that allows them to construct a line graph showing a profile across the landform. Then the class data is combined so that students have enough data to create a false-color topographical map of the landform’s surface. Includes 12 measuring probes, six remote sensing devices, one landform model, one mystery box, one platform box, six sets of seven colored pencils each, two transparencies (height of surface measurements of planet surface and false-color topographical map of planet surface), a teacher’s guide, and 28 student worksheets and guides. For 24 students.
