The Pigeon Books - An Instructional Guide for Literature

Children will love analyzing the hilarious, fun books about a silly Pigeon who tries to get away with too much! The titles covered in this guide are Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late, The Pigeon Wants a Puppy, The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog, The Duckling Gets a Cookie, and The Pigeon Needs a Bath. Students will learn to analyze various story elements through the fun, challenging activities and lessons provided in this instructional guide. Appealing and challenging cross-curricular lessons and activities incorporate research-based literacy skills to help students become thorough readers. These lessons and activities work in conjunction with the text to teach students how to analyze and comprehend story elements in multiple ways, practice close reading and text-based vocabulary, determine meaning through text-dependent questions, and much more. Correlated to the academic standards of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools, and all Canadian provinces. Teacher plan and student pages are broken down in sections or chapters depending on the book. Questions are written at two levels of complexity to allow the teacher to decide which questions best meet the needs of their students.
