Grades 7-12.

A tragic car accident. A horrific double homicide. Business schemes and drug rings. Can you and your students solve the mystery of Lyle and Louise? This premier forensic science curriculum is designed for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students and is comprised of independent, hands-on laboratory kits. Each kit allows students to process different evidence from multiple crime scenes in a complex murder mystery scenario. Sets clear goals and expectations for students and is aligned with National Science Education Standards. Supplies are included for up to 30 students working in six groups.

A large amount of trace evidence was collected during the cabin investigation, and additional trace evidence has recently arrived from a car crash scene. Your students must decide if there is a connection between the two investigations by characterizing, analyzing, and matching the hair and fiber evidence using microscopy. Includes a fully illustrated teacher’s manual, 30 cabin evidence collections, 12 suspect evidence collections, six truck evidence collections, data collection worksheets, 144 microscope slides with cover slips, and six bottles of mounting media.
