Module 5: Movement and Machines - Unit 9: How Things Move

• Provides students with opportunities to explore how their bodies moce and then to use this knowledge to investigate how objects move
• During the course of this unit, students will:
• Explore how pushes and pulls affect objects
• Investigate the force of gravity
• Practice follwing the science cycle
• Make and test predictions
• Draw conclusions and discuss them with others
• Become familiar with vocabulary related to movement and space
• Provides everything needed to meet the Common Core Standards in ELA and Math
• Also includes extensive suggestions for materials and activities to be included in activity centers to support the investigation of movement

Module 5: Movement and Machines - Unit 10: Simple Machines

• Provides experiences with simple machines used in everyday life, such as wheels, axles, levers, inclined planes, and pulleys
• During the course of this unit, students will:
• Explore many types of measurements and the way to use measurement to answer questions
• Become familiar with the science cycle
• Understand how to make a prediction and compare it with findings
• Become familiar with new vocabulary words used in the context of the science activities
• Being able to understand how to sort and categorize materials by their characteristics
• Keep track of data by making diagrams and charts
• Relate their activities to fiction and expository text
