Grades 4-8. For your STEM curriculum.
By Carl Pfeiffer. This interactive kit allows students to grasp the fundamental science concepts of simple machines. Already aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards, students investigate the use of levers to multiply force and speed and change direction, the pulley as a modified lever, the inclined plane, ideal and actual mechanical advantage, and the efficiency of machines. When used in conjunction with your in-place curriculum, this SciQuest® kit will help you add a meaningful and exciting dimension to the teaching opportunities you provide for your students. Contains enough materials for six work stations. Teacher’s guide included.WARNING: Choking Hazard. Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.
This kit contains excellent materials for the exploration of forces and motion. The written materials, however, are abysmal and I find that I will need to write my own procedures and questions for the student. The student activity sheets do not contain procedures, have students make any hypothesis or identify any variables in the activity. This kit was given to me, and I appreciate it, but without a better teacher guide and student handouts, it is not worth the purchase price.:
