A tragic car accident. A horrific double homicide. Business schemes and drug rings. Can you and your students solve the mystery of Lyle and Louise? This premier forensic science curriculum is designed for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students and is comprised of independent, hands-on laboratory kits. Each kit allows students to process different evidence from multiple crime scenes in a complex murder mystery scenario. Sets clear goals and expectations for students and is aligned with National Science Education Standards. Supplies are included for up to 30 students working in six groups.
Using a shoe print collected at the crime scene, your students will be able to determine critical information about the criminal! Students will perform a lab to compare height with shoe size and stride length. After taking castings of their own footprints, students will use both a casting of the evidence shoe print and a photograph of an additional shoe print found at the scene of the crime to determine individual characteristics about the shoeprints of a suspect or suspects. Includes a fully illustrated teacher’s manual, 6 true-to-size castings of the evidence footprint, six photos of additional shoe print, six bags of dental stone (stronger and hardens more quickly than plaster), and six sets of shoe data records. Materials for 30 students working in groups of six.
