The Mystery of Lyle and Louise Lab Investigation Kit
Grades 7-12.
A tragic car accident. A horrific double homicide. Business schemes and drug rings. Can you and your students solve the mystery of Lyle and Louise? This premier forensic science curriculum is designed for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students and is comprised of independent, hands-on laboratory kits. Each kit allows students to process different evidence from multiple crime scenes in a complex murder mystery scenario. Sets clear goals and expectations for students and is aligned with National Science Education Standards. Supplies are included for up to 30 students working in six groups.
Forensic scientists are called to the scene when two decomposing bodies are discoverd in a cabin. By studying the maggots residing on the bodies, your students will use forensic entomology to figure out how much time has elapsed since the two victims were killed. Students will identify the insects collected from the bodies and examine their life stages to determine the post-mortem intervals for both bodies. Contains four lab activities in one kit. Includes a fully illustrated teacher’s manual, three full sets of Species A in six life stages (18 vials), three full sets of Species B in six life stages (18 vials), and six vials of evidence collections.
