Forensic Science - Introduction to DNA Fingerprinting
Grades 4-8.
Students will get a real feel for what it takes to be a detective. This basic introduction to forensic science covers many bases. The first activity begins with a crime scene and the identification of suspects based on an eyewitness report and video stills
of the crime in progress. Physical evidence
found at the scene of the crime is analyzed scientifically. This kit introduces cells, cell structure, and magnification. Students will use this information to construct a model of a chromosome
with color-coded genes
representing some physical traits of the suspects. Kit contains five activities and materials for 15 lab groups of two students each. Materials are reusable.
