This instructional guide for literature was created as a support tool and helps familiarize young readers with this delightful story about friendship while adding rigor to their explorations of rich, complex literature. Rigorous yet engaging cross-curricular lessons and activities are correlated to College and Career Readiness Standards and encourage early learners to analyze the story elements in multiple ways, practice close reading and text-based vocabulary, determine meaning through text-dependent questions, and more.
