Students work for a renewable resources research firm, that is searching for an electricity free way to heat room in a home. As researchers they must design, build, and test a two room unit that uses the sun to heat one room and maintain a temperature for the other room. Through this process the students will learn about solar energy and various forms of heat transfer. They will utilize the engineering design process to design, build, and test their two-room homes. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Access to curricula materials can be found at http://www.cyber.org.

Materials in this kit include: cotton balls, cups, thermometers, cardboard sheets, aluminum foil, foam plates, parchment paper, cling wrap, dowel rods, diorama foam, double sided tape, tape measure, hot glue gun and glue sticks, masking tape, protractor, and balsa wood.
