Grades 6.

Students will design a vessel around an egg that represents the protective gear a stunt-person may wear when jumping from a building. Students will use the engineering design process as a guide to research concepts related to objects falling from a specific height, brainstorm vessel (or safety gear) designs, build, and test their own vessel that will hold an egg. Throughout the module, students will explore topics on gravity, velocity, Newton's Laws of Motion, mass, weight, force, and acceleration. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Access to curricula materials can be found at http://www.cyber.org.
Materials in this kit include: rubber bands, paper clips, cardstock, straws, twine, plastic eggs, modeling clay, foam cups, foam bowls, toilet paper, and cotton balls.
