CYBER.ORG™ Explore Aerospace STEM Kit

Grades 6.

In NICERC™ Explore Aerospace STEM Kit, students participate in a model glider competition as part of a festival featuring the glider pilots of WWII. In preparation for the competition, students learn about gliders during WWII, components of gliders, and fundamental principles of flight. Through research and testing of a standard glider model, students develop the skills to design and build their own glider using the engineering design process as a guide. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Materials include modeling clay, bend hooks, dowel rods, yard sticks, rubber bands, craft sticks, straws, duct tape, and foam boards.
