CYBER.ORG™ Discover Catapults Kit

Grades 7.

The students attend a school where the mascot is the medieval knight. To increase excitement and participation at school events, the class has been asked to design trebuchets to launch t-shirts and prizes to the crowds. In addition to learning the fundamental principals related to trebuchets and projectile motion, students research the medieval period and heraldry. The engineering design process is used as a guide for this module. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Access to curricula materials can be found at http://www.cyber.org.

Materials in this kit include: garbage bags, cloth scraps, dowel rods, foam board, shoulder hooks, eye bolts and nuts, string, foam golf balls, hot glue guns and glue sticks, masking tape, sand, 5 gallon bucket, bottle caps, foam cups, and pliers.
