Matatalab Musician Add-on Overview and Introduction Curriculum for Matatalab Screenless Robot Coding Set
Grades PreK-4.
Get students coding and creating melodies and musical patterns while utilizing the Matatalab Screenless Robot Coding Set (EL16832) with Musician Add-on (EL16829). Curriculum enables your STEM/STEAM classroom to combine coding and music in a meaningful, engaging way. The curriculum utilizes Matatalab, a block-based, tangible programming tool that allows students to move a robot through an environment by way of a Bluetooth®-enabled commamd tower and board. Students learn notes and beats through programming. With free combination, students can compose their favorite music, or even create their own. Includes 32 music blocks, 10 melody blocks, and 3 music warm-up cards (6 samples). The curriculum guide provides an overview, the aligned standards covered, and 12 lessons. Each 60-minute lesson provides an overview, objectives, materials required, step-by-step instructions, an activity, reproducible worksheets, a closing assessment, extensions, and real-world connections. Lessons allow students to compose melodies, create musical patterns alone and with others, sing and identify scale degrees (solfege), sing composed patterns with and without lyrics, and identify music notes and notation. Aligned to National Association for Music Education (NAfME, formerly MENC) and Computer Science Teacher Association (CSTA).
