Learn the role of the kidney in blood filtration and waste removal along with the many functional tasks performed by nephrons and nephron structures. Students will create an artificial kidney model to filter simulated blood, and then they will chemically test the resulting filtrate to detect any possible waste material that may have been removed by the kidney. Kit includes: one 100-ml bottle of simulated unfiltrated blood, 15-piece dialysis tubing, 15 plastic cups, 15 pipettes (1 ml), 30 salt test strips, and 30 urea test strips. Contains enough materials for 15 groups of students as well as a teacher’s guide and student copy masters.
