Acids, Bases and the pH Scale General Chemistry Classroom Kit
Grades 7-12.
Teach your students about the basic differences between the properties of acids and bases with this chemistry set. Students will examine the effects of acids and bases on several chemical pH indicators, determine the pH of several common household materials, and use the knowledge gained to determine the composition of four unknown clear solutions. There are enough materials for 15 groups. Materials include: one 25 ml bottle each of deionized water, dilute acid, dilute base, 0.5% litmus, 0.02% methyl red, 0.5% bromothymol blue, 1.0% phenolphthalein, vinegar, household ammonia, soap solution, filtered water, and vitamin C solution, 100 wide-range pH test strips, 15 reaction trays, teacher’s manual, and student master copies. Also includes four 25-ml bottles of unknown
solutions: water, dilute base, dilute acid, and phenolphthalein. Individual Student Kit also available (SB53422).
