Food Processing: A Field Trip DVD
Grades 7-12.
Take this field trip inside food processing plants to learn how food makers put real strawberries in cereal, create potato chips, make a beef roast ready to heat, mill wheat into flour, make cheese, and can food. Watch an assembly line make frozen pizzas and see corn go from cob to can. Viewers learn that most food processing is not a modern invention. Many techniques go back at least 100 years, or more. Peruvian Indians freeze-dried potatoes 500 years ago, and milling wheat has changed little in 100 years. Take students behind the normally closed doors to show what happens to the food they eat. 22 minutes. Copyright 2003.
