Exploring the FACS Career Wheel
Grades 7-12.
Introduces students to FACS career clusters: agriculture, food and natural resources, education and training, health science, hospitality and tourism, as well as human services. Through the curriculum, students will plan a restaurant while participating in individual and group activities. Students will learn about themselves, their talents and interests, and are introduced to business appropriate manners, appearance, and dress. The activities will guide students to explore careers through hands-on experiences. Students are reached through verbal, written, visual, and kinesthetic activities. Activities include hand sewing, restaurant research, menu planning, floor planning, color theory and selection, in addition to logo design. Includes intended outcomes, purposes/goals, suggested length of time, a list of technology and materials used in the lessons, steps and directions, and finally handouts/forms, and rubrics that may be copied for teacher use.
