An intervention program for adolescents and young adults with development abilities (including autism) that focuses on 50 important social skills and provides students step-by-step instruction through video modeling, photo-based directions, and role playing. Social skills focus on essential classroom, community, and workplace standards and can be taught individually or in small groups as needs arise. Fifty laminated cards (4 in. x 6 in.) each show a skill, break the skill down to five steps with clear, concise, and easy-to-read photos, and provide a self-talk story with a skill attainment strategy. The 224-page student book consists of larger versions of the cards, with a self-monitoring checklist for each of the 50 social skills. The video modeling DVD (85 minutes) demonstrates each social skill step-by-step with age-appropriate actors, who subsequently reflect on issues relevant to the skill performance. The 242-page teacher’s manual features narrative, objective, teacher script, and role play activities for each social skill, a global assessment form with all 50 skills, and 27 supplemental skills. Kit also includes a CD containing a PDF with a classroom license for printouts. Copyright 2012.
