Evolution - Examining Fossil and DNA Evidence
Grades 6-12.
In the first activity, students use whale fossil records to support the theory of evolution and explore natural selection, anatomical adaptations, habitats, lifestyles, and evolutionary relationships of extinct species. In the second activity, students examine classification from an evolutionary perspective, comparing DNA sequences from a number of vertebrates and creating evolutionary trees.
