Code Blue - A Simulation Covering Six Major Body Systems and Important Public Health Issues

Grades 5-8.

Working in cooperative learning groups, students study one of the body systems (circulatory, respiratory, nervous, digestive, muscular/skeletal, and immune) and teach their classmates about it using self-created visual aids. Research and critical-thinking skills are put into action as students use Code Cards to see their first patient and learn about public health issues. The culminating activity has students showcase their knowledge by presenting the most compelling cases to parents and students. The complete manual contains the 48-page teacher’s guide with complete procedures, handout masters, assessments, and the 10 Code Cards, as well as the 8-page student guide that gives overviews of each system.
