Grades 8.

Students will design and build a new board game that will include at least three electrical components. They will also perform a cost analysis on the actual cost to produce the game along with calculating potential profits from sales. Using the engineering design process as a guide, students research concepts related to electricity, brainstorm electrical circuitry designs, build, and test their own board game. Students will apply knowledge of atoms, current, voltage, resistance, elements, proportions, volume, and electrical components throughout this module. This kit contains enough materials for 10 groups. Access to curricula materials can be found at http://www.cyber.org.

Materials in this kit include: alligator clips, 3V DC micro-vibration motors, 9V battery clips, rocker switches, Piezo buzzers, assorted 5mm LEDs, 470 Ohm resistors, miniature 5V lamps and holders, foam board, magnet wire, ceramic disk magnets, aluminum foil, sand paper, and poster board.Materials required but not included: 10 each of KI00131 D Battery, 10 each of SB18068 DC Miniature Motor, 20 each of SB19164 9 Volt Battery, 10 rolls of Electrical Tape Roll 3/4 in. x 60 ft.
