Commercial Crops Identification Mounts Series

Grades 9-12.

The major commercial crops of the United States are included in this collection of 16 mounts. Each 5 in. x 8 in. mount has a descriptive backing that gives the average and annual U.S. statistics for total acres harvested, yield per acre, total production, and commercial value. Each backing also includes a range map of the U.S. showing each state for which that crop is of significant commercial value. The 16 specimens usually include: oats (head and grain), rice (head and grain), wheat (head and grain), rye (head and grain), barley (head and grain), millet (head and grain), sorghum (head and grain), buckwheat (stem and grain), tobacco (leaf and seeds), corn (ear cross-section and grain), peanuts (pods and nuts), cotton (freeze-dried bolls, both closed and opened showing fibers), soybeans (pods on stem and seeds), sunflower (striped and black oil achenes), alfalfa (stem, pods, and chops), and hops (vine section with flowers). All come housed in a convenient 6 in. x 18 in. flip bin for easy filling and storage. A wonderful collection and reference for any agri-science study.
