Great for introducing the EPT index! One indicator of good water quality is the type of organisms that make their home there. Some organisms are more tolerant of higher levels of pollution and turbidity than others. Others, such as those from the Ephemeroptera (mayfly nymphs), Plecoptera (stonefly nymphs), and Trichoptera (caddis fly larvae) orders, are very sensitive to pollution and turbidity, and are therefore ideal for use in determining water quality. This display shows examples of common water organisms and their sensitivity to water pollution and turbidity. Each specimen is clearly labeled. 12 x 8-3/4.
