DEPARTMENT: Procurement

DUTIES:

  • Buying
  • Purchase products by creating and generating purchase orders using the business system.
  • Maintain system purchasing parameters and sales demand data.
  • Procure and maintain inventory levels in compliance with the annual Business Plan while considering current customer demand.
  • Work with the Category Managers and Sales Team to promote the sale, return, or disposal of discontinued inventory.
  • Maintain back-order levels at or below target levels.
  • Expedite overdue shipments when necessary.
  • Back up buying team and assist purchasing support personnel as needed.

  • Supplier Relations
  • Meet with suppliers to review products for possible addition to catalogs.
  • Negotiate favorable costing, discounts, payment terms, dating, advertising allowances, rebates, catalog allowances, lead times, and consignments.
  • Negotiate without compromising the guidelines set forth by the company.
  • Keep abreast of all US product laws to ensure that Nasco and business verticals procedures reflect the legal requirements contained within the law (i.e. C.P.S.I.A., Lacey Act, etc.).
  • Monitor all Consumer Product Safety Committee (C.P.S.C.) recalls weekly to ensure that Nasco is not selling or distributing recalled products. Work with our suppliers to obtain reimbursement for all recalled inventory.
  • Catalogs - Work with the catalog teams to evaluate product sales performance and assist in the compilation of the catalog.

  • Customer Service
  • Work with International Sales, Nasco Store, Customer Service and Phone Center departments to satisfy customer needs and enhance the overall company growth by improving sales and profits.
  • Add suggested product substitutions and complimentary items to the computer.

  • Travel
  • Represent Nasco at various trade shows and supplier meetings as required.

  • Management
  • Work for the improvement in the company’s overall operations, assist in areas when needed, and take every opportunity to increase the sales and profits of the corporation.
  • Report monthly statistics as requested.
  • Aid in the development of attaining organizational supply chain goals and objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Requires a four-year degree or equivalent experience, preferably in business related field.
  • Exposure to working with international sources of supply and ordering products globally and arrange for appropriate product safety testing in the development of proprietary products.
  • Assertive, effective, and solid communication and negotiating skills.
  • Familiarity with assigned purchasing materials, products, and equipment. Maintain knowledge of current market trends.
