In this persuasive documentary about sexual assault, students learn about the devastating legal and emotional consequences of date rape. They learn that older date rape perpetrators “groom” girls with flattery, offer them alcohol or marijuana, isolate them from their peers and sexually assault them. Young women share experiences of being deceived and hurt by these violent offenders. A sex crimes policewoman describes the warning signs of a potential “date rapist” and strongly advises young women to use the buddy system when meeting someone new. A trauma reduction specialist who works with victims advises students to seek help if they find themselves in a dangerous dating relationship. Students learn that there are clear and recognizable behaviors used by serial date rapists to target potential victims and that going beyond consent is always sexual assault. 26 minutes. Grades 6-12.
