“Sound It!” develops auditory discrimination of the sounds of the consonants and vowels and builds a strong foundation for listening, speaking, and reading skills. Nonreaders will find success while training with specific consonants or vowels in isolation and in words. Acquaint students with the sounds of the letters, provide ear-training in sound differences and give practice using the correct sounds of standard English. Activities include games, listening exercise, and riddles. Especially useful for individual and small group learning. Unit 1 (consonants) provides practice in recognizing the sounds of the consonants in the initial, medial, and final positions. Unit 2 (vowels) introduces the long and short vowel sounds and the common digraphs and diphthongs. Complete program includes 24 lessons, 12 audio CDs (six per unit), two CD-ROMs with student activity pages in PDF format (one per unit), and a 100-page reproducible student activity book with teacher’s guide, answer keys, and enrichment activity pages. Grades K-3 (Remedial 4-6).
