Product Description
This lab explores the spectrum of colors that makes up white light. Students use diffraction gratings, then build a spectroscope to investigate the spectra of different light sources. They gather evidence showing that different light sources have different spectra and that colored filters absorb some of the colors in the spectrum. Includes light station; set of four colored paper strips; set of eight colored pencils; fluorescent light bulb with socket, cord, and slotted shield; red, green, and blue filter slides; square-frame diffraction grating; four round diffraction gratings; single-slot and diffusing masks; two spectroscopes with tubes and endcaps; two color transparencies; two mirror/slide holders; five student guides; and teacher’s guide. Grades 6-12.
