A tragic car accident. A horrific double homicide. Business schemes and drug rings. Can you and your students solve the mystery of Lyle and Louise? This premier forensic science curriculum is designed for middle school, high school, and undergraduate students and is comprised of independent, hands-on laboratory kits. Each kit allows students to process different evidence from multiple crime scenes in a complex murder mystery scenario. Sets clear goals and expectations for students and is aligned with National Science Education Standards. Supplies are included for up to 30 students working in six groups.
At the crime scene, investigators found a significant amount of blood spatter. Your students must use evidence to decide how it was formed and determine the events leading to the murders of the two people in the cabin. Students will discover the relationship between height and angle of impact and the size and shape of the spatter. Students will also build a mathematical model to apply to the blood spatter patterns and perform experiments to find the point of impact. Includes a fully illustrated teacher’s manual, six cardboard blood drop angle supports, six 3-D cardboard cabin models, 50 sheets of 11" x 17" paper, six bottles of synthetic blood, six Pasteur pipettes, six Pasteur pipette bulbs, six sets of crime scene blood spatter images, six sets of string, a box of push pins, and six measuring tapes.
