Drosophila provides a lesson in manipulation of genetic crosses. Students collect data from several generations and compare several crosses. Kit includes acetocarmine stain, Edvotek® BugOut™ solution, instant Drosophila culture tubes, foam lids, 35 mm slide containing salivary gland chromosome, Drosophila (wild type/red eye, sepia eye, white eye, and vestigial wing), and instructions. Lab requires that students devote several hours over the course of 7-8 weeks.
