Chromatographic separation of carotene, xanthophyll and chlorophylls are performed by thin layer chromatography. The reformulated solvent system minimizes toxicity. Key reagents are included to demonstrate photosynthesis. Kit includes chloroplast extraction and dilution buffers, reducing reagent, DCIP, standard pigments, chromatography solvent, Sarkosyl, thin layer cellulose chromatography plate, microfiber capillary pipets, tubes and transfer pipets, and instructions. Lab completed in approximately 120 minutes.
