A fiber optic is a flexible acrylic or glass rod with a teflon-type coating (cladding) that transmits light. It looks like a fishing line, but works more like a garden hose. Instead of carrying water, the fiber optic rod carries light. When you shine a light into one end, the light travels through the fiber and shines brightly at the other end. In addition, the fiber optic rod is flexible to bend in order to demonstrate that light can be transmitted around corners when in-putted into a fiber optic element. Includes a 3-ft. piece of fiber optic material and instruction sheet.
