Introduce students to immunology through an immunology-based diagnostic test used to detect various infectious diseases such as Lyme disease. Students will perform an ELISA test to identify simulated infected patient samples and compare them to control samples. Kit includes seven test reagents: A Lyme antigen, B negative control, C positive control, D donor sample #1, E donor sample #2, F secondary antibody, and G substrate. Kit also includes plastic strips of microtiter wells and microtip transfer pipettes. Required (not included): distilled or deionized water, small cup, permanent marker, and timer or clock. Enough materials for six experiments. Grades 6-12.
