This kit provides students with the opportunity to learn the techniques available for dusting and developing latent fingerprints from various surfaces. Students compare the prints to standards developed by the FBI and help in identifying the would-be suspect. Students will also prepare evidence for other students to analyze, and with the aid of the Modus Operandi sheets, students identify the fingerprints of the suspects. Kit contains: instruction manual, Modus Operandi sheets, ink pads, ninhydrin, acetone, tweezers, magnifying glasses, FBI fingerprints, disposable plastic gloves, slides, filter paper, jars with screw caps, student data sheets, carbon black, aluminum powder, brushes, index cards, cellophane tape, iodine crystals, aluminum foil, glue, and metal spoons. 24 student refill available upon request. Grades 6-12.
