Over 3,000 children between the ages of 5-14 die each year in the U.S. due to accidents, and tens of thousands more are seriously injured. Topics covered in the game include: water safety, car safety, bicycle safety, strangers, physical and sexual abuse, storms, fire safety, pedestrian safety, tobacco, safety in the home, drugs, Internet, sports, guns, and more. Play of the game has been designed so that players cooperate and help each other, as well as answer questions about safety in order to win points for themselves. Safety Island™ actually contains two different games, one designed for grades 1-2 (instructor reads the cards for 1st graders) and the second game is for grades 3-5. Both games use the same board, but the rules and cards for each game are different. Comes with a teacher’s guide with complete lesson plans for both versions of the game. For 2-6 players, more with team play. Grades 1-5.
