This versatile apparatus is three demonstrators in one. Up to two balls can be loaded into the spring-loaded chamber and ejected out the back for a quantitative study of rocket propulsion and momentum transfer. As a second law of motion apparatus, the third wheel can be replaced with a supplied support rod for suspending the unit in the air. Place one ball in the chamber and another on the protruding shaft. When the trigger pin is removed, one ball is launched horizontally, while the other falls straight down. In accordance with Newton’s Second Law, both balls strike the ground simultaneously. The two remaining wheels double as pulleys allowing the unit to be used as an Atwood’s machine, which is used to understand linear and angular acceleration. Includes two steel balls for the rocket experiment and two steel balls for the Second Law experiment.
