This kit introduces characteristics of waves. Students observe how sound waves travel by using a Slinky®. Students also observe vibrations produced by tuning forks and the relative pitch produced by two different tuning forks. The musical scale is emphasized and how a change in the length or thickness of a string produces different pitches in a stringed instrument. The structure of the human ear is also introduced. Kit contains: eyedroppers, shallow pans, straws, tuning forks (512Hz and 256Hz), rubber hammers, Slinkys®, and thin string. Grades 2-5.
