Students identify unknown substances and identify the property, or group of properties, unique to each substance. The five activities in this kit illustrate that sulfides, sulfites, sulfates, and carbonates of different ions can be identified by certain characteristics. Students identify the ions in these experiments when they observe the reactions with other substances. The students learn that the products have distinctive properties. All results are safe, clear, colorful, and unmistakable. Introduces students to qualitative analysis. They develop an understanding by following the individualized worksheet. Kit contains enough material for 12 lab groups of two students each for two classes.
