Raptors are more commonly known as birds of prey. Hawks, eagles, and owls are some of the more familiar birds in this group. These birds are typically identified for special traits that allow them to capture and feed on prey animals. Students will be able to see and handle replicas of claws and beaks from raptors. These replicas, along with well-illustrated sketches, will allow students the opportunity to observe the unique feeding adaptations which are used by birds of prey. Identifies special characteristics and feeding habits of raptors to indicate how these traits are used to place birds of prey into different classification or taxonomic groups. Includes both open and closed beak replicas and a claw replica for a hawk, eagle, and owl; six reproducible activity sheets; six activity sheets; six information sheets; six student guides; and a teacher’s guide.
