Specific concepts investigated relate to: forces that oppose motion, sliding and rolling friction, the use of levers to multiply force and speed and change direction, simple periodic motion; force couples involving “action and reaction,” the pulley as a modified level, pulley systems, periodic motion of a pendulum; and centrifugal and centripetal forces, the inclined plane, ideal and actual mechanical advantage, efficiency of machines, uniform linear motion, velocity, and accelerated motion. Grades 4-9.
