Students study themselves, their parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. Using a controlled experiment, useful data is collected. The principles of heredity are developed and demonstrated. The experiment is based on the transmission of a single inherited trait - the ability to taste harmless phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). The data is collected, pooled, and compared. Supplementary sections about the Hardy-Weinberg Law, gene frequency calculation, and the genetics of ABO blood typing are included. Complete for 50 students.
