An attractive reptile, this turtle is native to the southern Mississippi River and its tributaries. Carapace is dark with yellowish stripes. One common subspecies, Trachemys scripta elegans, the red-eared slider or “elegant” slider, has a wide red band behind the eye. This turtle is long-lived and easy to maintain in the classroom. Feed Nasco turtle brittle (SB13523(LM)M). Environmental pressures limit the collection of the larger sizes of turtles. This may occasionally necessitate the substitution of smaller specimens at the lower price. Sold to schools only. Must be shipped air freight. Estimated minimum shipping charge $70.00.
