Experience a forest floor environment in a terrarium setting by studying the micro-habitats in a decaying log. Using the naturally occurring animals and plant life included in the kit, students discover and collect data for organisms that fill different niches in the forest floor environment. A decomposing log contributes to succession on the forest floor and offers additional micro-habitats for further study. Includes guides for teacher and students to manage and direct activities throughout the investigation. Kit contains: 10-gal. aquarium, VersaTop cover, 4-qts. woodland soil, partially decomposed log, spray/mist bottle, pH test paper, hand magnifier, 6" ruler, instructions and a redeemable coupon that includes moss patch, dried moss “sheet,” sow bugs, redworms, beetles, fern, and liverwort.
