This interactive DVD focuses on the proper techniques and safety practices for the disassembly of a five horsepower Briggs and Stratton Model 124703 engine. Expert Dr. David Lawver of Texas Tech University performs the task of removing the fuel tank, air filter, carburetor, linkage muffler, blower housing, mechanical governor, and spark plugs. This presentation also explains how a four-stroke cycle engine operates and shows how to check valve-to-tappet clearance, flywheel inspection, and proper engine compression. On a partly disassembled gas engine, the featured expert demonstrates checking the armature air gap settings and then the removal of the cylinder head, crankcase breather, valves and springs, flywheel, and armature. Disassembly continues with procedures for checking the crankshaft end play, removal of the sum, oil slinger, camshaft, tappets, and piston.
