Fully portable, handheld computerized device that identifies pregnant and nonpregnant sows. Determines pregnancy by locating amniotic fluid in the uterus. Can be used between days 15 and 75 after breeding. The most objective time recommended for accurate diagnosis is approximately the 25- to 30-day period after breeding. When pressed against the animal’s skin, the ultrasonic probe emits ultrasonic sound waves that are reflected by the amniotic fluid in the uterus of the pregnant animal. The reflected sound is then measured and analyzed by the instrument. When pregnancy is detected, a pulsing light and a sound signals the discovery. An extremely profitable tool that enables: the selection of pregnant animals in time to conserve feed; the elimination of labor and feeding costs of nonpregnant ones; proper treatment of pregnant animals; and easier, more advantageous buying and selling decisions.
