When fence chargers fail due to lightning, the lightning bolt usually comes to the charger through the 110V power source and not the electric fence out in the field. For this reason, a surge protector should be used with all 110V electric fences. This protector can also be used with televisions, computers, radios, and all 110-120V solid-state equipment.
