Introduce students to hieroglyphs, the ancient form of Egyptian writing, for a cross-curricular lesson of art and history. A cartouche is an oval ring that ancient Egyptians used to identify members of royalty. Using Egyptian Hieroglyphs as inspiration, students will create a personal cartouche of their name made from clay. The cartouche will be turned into a pendant.
