Provides students with an opportunity to examine artistic expressions of human emotions that cross boundaries of time, geography, and cultures. Rings includes a 128-page handbook, 15 overhead transparencies, and 15 posters (each 18" x 24"). The curriculum handbook includes five units of study corresponding to the five emotions examined in Rings – love, anguish, awe, triumph, and joy. In each unit, three works of art from different cultures and historical periods are examined in detail. Each unit also contains sections on how the art disciplines (production, criticism, history, and aesthetics) contribute to the understanding of the work of art and the artists’ backgrounds. Includes suggested questions and activities.
