The Reading Mentor® is the world’s first system to integrate proven hands-on reading methods with an electronic device that speaks. This electronic learning tool has the ability to scan text on Reading Rods®, convert it to speech, and display it on the LCD screen. It features a 23,000 word dictionary that includes 9,000 core vocabulary words. There are three modes of learning using Reading Rods®: Letter Mode (reads single letter rods to identify letters and give letter sound), Word Mode (reads all rods in a string as one word, then breaks it into phonetic components), and Sentence Mode (reads entire sentence, then can isolate each word for individual pronunciation). Includes four headphone jacks for group participation, volume control, and works with a power adapter (included).
About Reading Rods®:
Reading Rods® are versatile, interlocking manipulatives that are fun to use when teaching and learning to read. The rods are color-coded to define the functions of the letter(s) or words and to differentiate between consonants, vowels, blends, nouns, verbs, etc. Rods only connect from left to right, providing a self-correcting format that builds student confidence.
